For Purified Drinking Water Use Activated Charcoal

Most of us are so used to the stability in life that we are at a loss when we are faced with an emergency. The book “Just in Case: How to Be Self-sufficient when the Unexpected Happens” deals with handling just such situations in real life. Through the use of cartoons and illustrated diagrams various things are explained in a very easy to understand manner. Should there be a power failure which will last for many hours or days one must know how to deal with it. One must know how to get pure drinking water by using activated charcoal. Used and muddy water can be used for sanitation but for potable water it is essential that it is purified by use of activated carbon filter. Drinking water purified by activated charcoal should be stored in a neat utensil, as water is one of the most essential items which you will require in an emergency.
The Author, Kathy Harrison says that one must be able to shut down the house in 10 minutes and be ready to move. One must know where all the switches are including gas and electricity which need to be switched off. One should have water purified by granular activated carbon stored in containers along with back packs ready to move out at short notice.

Activated Charcoal’s Versatility

Activated Charcoal’s Versatility

One of the most versatile compounds in existence when it comes to industry, environment, and medicine is activated charcoal. Carbon is pervasive on this planet and comes in many forms. In fact without carbon we wouldn’t even have life. But activated carbon or charcoal is perhaps the most versatile form in terms of the scope of applications it is used in. Activated charcoal has a remarkable property of having a tremendous surface area. In addition to this tremendous surface area, many different forms of pollutants and toxins bind to activated carbon. This makes activated carbon a tremendous compound for use in filtration. Activated carbon filter devices exist that can both purify air and water. The applications range from filtration of the output of industrial production so that the water and air coming out of a factory is clean as well as applications within motor vehicles and within the home. At home these filters can be used to purify tap water or to clean the air of allergens. Additionally, activated carbon has applications in medicine where it can be used to remove poisons and toxins from the body. This is particularly necessary in cases where antidotes do not exist and so the only possible solution is to remove the toxins from the body.

A biomass conversion plant to produce activated carbon

A biomass conversion plant to produce activated carbon

A $20 million plant is going to be built by Big Island Carbon LLC in March on four acres of land in which macadamia nut shells is planned to be converted into granular activated carbon that would be helpful for pharmaceutical industries. A global private equity firm, Denham Capital is going to fund the project. This firm has always focused on energy conservation and supports the projects that are energy focused. The process that will be used for the conversion is biomass conversion process, as stated in the news release by the company. The macadamia nut shells have the capability for other feedstock and so it has been estimated that they are going to help purifying air and water.

The conversion process is age old one and a bio fuel as by product will also be produced in large quantities. It is also going to provide employment to the people and that will be year round employment. The site work is scheduled to start in March and is expected to complete in 10 months from then. This project is going to fulfill the various renewable energy sources and activated carbon as the main product is very useful certainly for air and water purifying processes. This will help the macadamia industry to restart and end its struggling period. There are many industries and projects that are going to be benefited by this plant along with agriculture also. Even the dependency of the state on imported fuel will be reduced and that is a good sign for the economy too.

Activated Charcoal is Wonder Filter

Activated Charcoal is Wonder Filter

The more uses a product has, the more marketable it becomes. In this dreary economy, the more useful something is, the better it is doing. One such product that is actually seeing an increase is activated charcoal. It is a wonderful product that helps filter. On a large scale, activated charcoal can be used in filtering a city’s water supply or helping to clean up large toxic spills in rivers, lakes, or the ocean. However, it is the small-scale use that now has people talking.
One of the earliest uses of activated charcoal products for people was in emergencies. If someone overdosed on medicines or poisons, a doctor could administer a cocktail that included activated charcoal to clean the body’s digestive system out and filter out the toxins. However, one of the newest uses is for a full body colon cleanse. Activated charcoal, when taken in smaller doses helps to flush the body of toxins that have built up in the colon over the years. With a diet of fresh fruit and vegetables it is said to really help the body. However, like with anything you are going to put in your body, it is important that you speak to your doctor about all available options and do some research first.

Different ways of cleaning your refrigerator
The first thing you need to do before cleaning the refrigerator is to remove all the food items which are inside and check for the labels and check it thoroughly for the outdated and spoiled stuff. Spoiled veggies can be put in the compost pile if you have one. If there are some good stuff, keep it in a cooler space or cover it with ice in a box until you finish off the cleaning. Turn the temperature mode to zero and then clean the drip tray if you have one. Take off the trays and shelves and whatever you can take outside and wash those from the kitchen sink, using warm water with a mild soap solution.
The next step is to clean the inside portion of the refrigerator. Take equal amounts of vinegar and warm water and with a wash cloth wipe it inside the refrigerator. If it still smells bad, then put activated charcoal or grinded coffee in a newspaper and place that on top of one tray in the refrigerator and keep it closed for 24 hours and throw it. This method will help getting rid of the bad smell in most cases. After that you can place a cut lemon or expose the baking powder inside the refrigerator. Still, if you want to have good smell, take a cotton ball dip init in a vanilla essence (or whatever essence you like) and place it on the door tray. Alternatively you can use eucalyptus leaves for an earthly smell. Also, always try to store the food in a sealed container. When you are switching the refrigerator off, don’t forget to keep it open by placing a towel on its door.
